I/O Link
The 4° industrial revolution, which can be called “Industry 4.0” or even “Industrial Internet of Things” aims to create “smart plants”. Enabling the processes to become independent by anticipating failures of the entire production process.
The use of intelligent sensors, which collect process data and send it in real time to the system controller. These data makes it possible to make decisions of the machine itself in view of the information obtained.
The data provided by the processes until then were not used in its entirety, with the development of IO-Link technology that enabled this traffic, having access to the data provided by the intelligent sensors through the existing cabling, can be connected to the most diverse communication protocols, such as: PROFIBUS, PROFINET and EtherNet/IP, it only takes one IO- Link master to communicate.
Sensors with IO-Link act in the same way as standard I/O sensors until they are connected to a master.
